Tori-con is an astigmatism correcting toric lens which is specially designed to correct for the optical error of astigmatism. Tori-con contact lens is designed to match the unequal curvatures of an astigmatic cornea. The problem is making sure that the lens stays at the correct angle because blinking can rotate the lens on the eye.

This is accomplished by using small weights in the bottom of the lens to keep it's proper position don't worry you cannot see them. If the angle of the lens is off, even by a couple of degrees, it will cause blurred or fluctuating vision.

You can test this by rotating your glasses slightly while looking through them. You will see things move and look blurry or distorted. This is astigmatism! In severe cases of astigmatism a custom toric contact lens may need to be prescribed.

The center of Tori-con soft lens is thicker than spherical lenses. Tori-con has a bigger refraction for the eye, because the front surface doesn't change as much while the back surface is transformed in accordance with the form of the cornea.
